A friend of mine, Frugal Novice, did a review that was of particular interest to me and is sponsoring a giveaway. Since we do not have curbside recycling here, we have to sort our own and take it to our landfill where there are recycling sorting bins. It is quite difficult making the trek, but wanting to set a good example of good stewardship of this beautiful earth we are blessed to inhabit, we do it. We take our recyclables in garbage bags and then have to dump the contents out into the bins, then waste the bags as we have to trash them. I have researched other methods, but nothing seems appropriate since I didn't want open bins in the back of my vehicle just waiting to spill out all over the place!
In reading Christi's (author of Frugal Novice) review, she asked us to take a look at Rubbermaid's other recycling containers and it was love at first sight!! HA HA HA
The outdoor bins would be perfect for us and our recycling needs and with the lids make them much more transport friendly, we could easily just toss out the contents into the county recycling sorters and take the container right back home, no mess, no waste.
I love the product she is reviewing and giving away too! It is perfect for indoor kitchen use and you could easily cart the separate containers and empty them into the outside bins!!
I may have just found a more efficient, and greener way to recycle! Thanks Christi!!

EARTH DAY!!
I am trying something new and 'green'....reusable snack/sandwich bags. I send one with my daughter on the three days she attends preschool and often more on the day she attends lunch there, so that is starting to add up and fill up a landfill somewhere!!

Chicken & Dumplings (with a spin)
I adapted this recipe from one my Aunt Angie gave me. This is amazing and so comforting!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1- 12 oz box organic condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1- 12 oz box organic cream of chicken condensed soup
- 6 oz chicken broth
- 1 1/2 cups chopped bell peppers
- 1- 13 oz can of chicken, do not drain
- 1 1/2 cup baking mix
- parsley
- 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- salt & pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
- In large stockpot, add in condensed soups, broth, and chopped bell peppers warm over medium heat until mix boils
- In mixing bowl, mix chicken baking mix, garlic, salt, and pepper, and a good dose of parsley-MIX
- Place tablespoons of chicken/baking mix into boiling soups.
- Cover-reduce heat to low and cook until dumplings are cooked through (about 20 mins)
If this isn't thick enough for your liking, take 3 tbsp flour (or 2 tbsp corn starch) with 2 tbsp water and add into broth and stir over low heat until it thickens

Race Results...News...Running Gear Recommendations
I finished the 10K and I want to again thank all those that sponsored me with donations for the VCU Massey Cancer Center. You all were an amazing part of my motivation and determination on that cold, rainy morning!
I had planned on a time a bit above 1 hour but came in at 55 mins, it was an amazing race with loads of street side supporters bantering inspiration and waving signs with inspiring messages. I think the cancer survivors in training tent was the one that most inspired me to pick up my pace, what strength and fortitude they had to be brave and courageous in their fight against the cancers they are facing.
I suppose I was so inspired that I finally....FINALLY...got enough gusto (or stupidity) to sign up for my first marathon. I so want that 26.2 sticker and am determined to earn it this year!
I am in need of finding better insoles for my shoes as they are SHOT and my feet and shins are starting to feel it! I am looking forward to updating you on my marathon training progress and the race is in November, so here we go!!!
If you are in need of running or fitness supplies I HIGHLY recommend Road Runner Sports, they are amazing!
Got to check out...
